SELEXA

About the Artist & Studio

Laura Strat is a UK-based fine art photographer and founder of SELEXA, a contemporary photography studio devoted to exploring the quiet presence of architecture.

Working predominantly in black and white, her practice is centred on monumental and sacred spaces, architectural geometry, symmetry, light and shadow. By removing the distraction of colour, she reduces architecture to its essential elements — structure, proportion, rhythm and atmosphere — creating images that invite contemplation rather than simply document place.

With a professional background in medicine, Laura brings a distinctive sensitivity to order, balance and the emotional experience of space. Her photography explores the point at which architecture moves beyond function and becomes a source of stillness, presence and visual calm.

Her signature series, The Grammar of Stillness, embodies this approach through studies of European cathedrals, historic interiors and monumental architecture. Across the wider SELEXA portfolio, familiar structures are transformed into quieter, more abstract compositions in which geometry and light become the primary language.

International Recognition

Laura’s photography has received extensive international curatorial recognition on 1x, one of the world’s leading curated photography platforms, with 92 works selected by its curators, 39 officially Published works, and a Curator’s Award.

Her work is also represented internationally through SINGULART, where it has been viewed and selected by independent curators and included in curated collections alongside the work of international artists.

SELEXA limited-edition works are created as fine art objects, with an emphasis on archival materials, professional printing and carefully controlled editions.

A Personal Note from Laura

“I am drawn to the moment when architecture becomes quiet — when structure, light and symmetry create a space for contemplation.

Photography allows me to isolate that moment: to remove the noise surrounding a place and reveal the order, stillness and beauty that remain.

Through SELEXA, I hope to create photographs that are not simply images of architecture, but spaces in which the eye — and perhaps the mind — can rest.”
